Acceptable Use Policy

Effective: February 19, 2026

Last updated: February 19, 2026

The Short Version

Use WorkCentral for legitimate business purposes. Don't use it to hurt people, break laws, or abuse the platform. Treat other users and their data with respect. That covers about 99% of it — the rest is details.

1. What This Policy Covers

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to all users of WorkCentral, including account owners, team members, and anyone accessing the platform through an invitation. It supplements our Terms of Service.

We wrote this policy to set clear expectations, not to be heavy-handed. The vast majority of users will never come close to violating any of this. But it's important to define the boundaries so everyone knows where they stand.

2. Use WorkCentral For

WorkCentral is designed for freelancers, agencies, and consultants to manage their client work. Acceptable uses include:

  • Creating and sending quotes and proposals to clients
  • Managing projects, tasks, and team collaboration
  • Tracking time spent on client work
  • Creating and sending invoices for legitimate services
  • Accepting payments for work you've performed
  • Tracking business expenses
  • Using AI features to generate quotes and improve descriptions
  • Generating reports to understand your business performance

3. Don't Use WorkCentral For

Illegal activity

  • Invoicing for illegal goods or services
  • Money laundering or fraudulent financial transactions
  • Any activity that violates applicable local, state, national, or international law

Fraud and deception

  • Creating fake invoices for work that wasn't performed
  • Impersonating another person or business
  • Misrepresenting the nature of services provided
  • Using stolen payment information or API keys
  • Creating multiple free accounts to circumvent plan limits

Abuse of the platform

  • Attempting to access other users' accounts, data, or organizations
  • Using automated scripts, bots, or scrapers against the platform without our written permission
  • Deliberately overloading the service (denial-of-service attacks)
  • Exploiting bugs or vulnerabilities instead of reporting them to us
  • Reverse engineering, decompiling, or copying the platform's source code
  • Reselling access to WorkCentral without our authorization

Harmful content

  • Uploading malware, viruses, or malicious files
  • Using the platform to distribute spam or phishing content
  • Storing or transmitting content that promotes violence, harassment, or discrimination

Abuse of AI features

  • Using AI quote generation to produce content unrelated to legitimate business quotes
  • Attempting to use the platform as a general-purpose AI interface
  • Inputting deliberately harmful or illegal content into AI features

4. Team Accounts and Shared Responsibility

If you're on the Business plan with team members:

  • The account owner is responsible for their team members' compliance with this policy
  • Manage permissions carefully — only grant access that team members need
  • Remove team members promptly when they leave your organization
  • Don't share login credentials between team members — each person should have their own account

5. Security Responsibility

You play a role in keeping your account secure:

  • Use a strong, unique password for your WorkCentral account
  • Enable two-factor authentication (we strongly recommend it)
  • Don't share your login credentials with others
  • Keep your OpenAI API key confidential — treat it like a password
  • Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account

6. Reporting Violations

If you believe someone is violating this policy, or if you discover a security vulnerability, please let us know:

Email: abuse@workcentral.app

We take reports seriously and will investigate promptly. If you report a security vulnerability responsibly, we'll work with you to address it and won't take action against you for good-faith security research.

7. What Happens If You Violate This Policy

We'd rather help you fix a problem than punish you. For most violations, our approach is:

  1. Notification: We'll contact you to explain the issue and ask you to stop
  2. Temporary restriction: If the issue continues, we may temporarily limit account functionality
  3. Suspension or termination: For repeated or severe violations, we may suspend or terminate your account

For severe violations (fraud, illegal activity, deliberate harm to other users), we may skip straight to suspension and involve law enforcement if appropriate.

In all cases, we'll give you an opportunity to export your data before permanent account deletion, unless doing so would compromise an investigation or put others at risk.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the platform evolves. We'll notify you of meaningful changes via email or in-app notice.
